Fashion & Technology is a new 7-semester Bachelor programme for contemporary fashion design.
The world of fashion is currently undergoing a dramatic change. Fashion is increasingly becoming a disposable product manufactured in breathless production cycles under inhuman conditions. The system of fashion as we know it is about to collapse.
Fashion & Technology understands technology as a catalyst of innovative, sustainable design solutions and alternative aesthetic concepts, characterized by a spirit of tolerance. Fashion & Technology uses technology to explore new ways of design, production processes and presentation. The programme critically examines questions of privacy, body optimization and ecology, that the combination of fashion and technology raises.
Students are trained to meet newly emerging requirements and professional profiles in the intertwined area of fashion and technology. The programme bridges modern and traditional technologies. Through the programme's cooperation partners, technology comes alive for students: They develop their own fabrics at Textile Center Haslach, learn how to use the technology behind wearables at Linz Center of Mechatronics or present their work in a virtual show during the Ars Electronica Festival. An international internship and workshops with experts from the fields of fashion design, photography, styling, PR, performance and technology provide complex insights into the latest developments in fashion.
