Prerequisites

Prerequisites
Admission to the programme is contingent on the completion of the bachelor programme Industrial Design scionic® at Kunstuniversität Linz and on the approval of the candidate by the Head of the Department, Univ.-Prof. Dipl.Ing. Axel Thallemer.
Other completed curricula may be recognised by the Head of the Department under Art. 64 para. V of the Universities Organisation Act of 2002. For this purpose, prospective students must undergo an admission examination and a personal admission interview as well as submit a number of work samples (portfolio).

Admission Examination
The admission examination is composed of a theoretical section with general questions and a design task. Another important part is a final personal interview with the candidate. No specialised knowledge above the level of a secondary school-leaving examination is required, while practical know-how such as good PC literacy is of advantage.

Sample Work Folder
There are no limitations regarding the content of the portfolio, e.g. freehand drawings, (model) photographs, computer renderings, animations. What counts most is the personal aspect of these work samples.
The work samples should also be characterised by theoretically sound (work) processes and some variety. The work samples should not only be prepared specifically for the admission examination but offer insight into different creative phases as well. The portfolio should be structured clearly, simply and should moreover be easy to handle (DIN A3 as maximum format, if possible) to allow for an unrestricted focus on its contents.

Registration and Admission Examination
Prospective students must register for the admission examination via Internet registration. Persons interested in this examination are cordially invited to contact the assistant lecturers of the programme in advance for an informal talk (please make an appointment with the secretariat of the Department) or to obtain information about the programme during the annual open-house day of Kunstuniversität Linz.
