Insurance Cover

Erasmus staff mobilities (teaching STA or training STT) and ASEA UNINET mobilities are organised at the University of Arts Linz as part of a business trip.

Employees are insured for these business activities abroad as follows:

Insurance cover for business trips:

Health insurance:

The European Health Insurance Card link - located on the back of the e-card - can be used to ensure basic health insurance cover. It proves in other European countries that you have statutory health insurance in Austria.
The European Health insurance card is valid in all 27 EU member states and a number of other European countries.

It should be noted that not all costs may be covered by the card. In the case of an authorised business trip, these are covered by the University of Arts Linz as follows:

  • A1 certificate from the BVAEB (will be requested by the Human Resources Department)
  • through additional international and health insurance provided by the university, which in all other cases covers hospitalisation or medical treatment if the e-card is not valid.

Liability insurance:

The University of Arts Linz´s liability insurance covers damage caused to third parties by university employees in the course of their official duties.
Under certain circumstances, however, the University can assert claims for recourse against such employees, although there is a judicial right of moderation in the event of a dispute.

Insurance cover for leisure activities (during a business trip):

The same insurance regulations apply for leisure activities as for holiday trips to EU countries.
Employees are obliged to take care of their own insurance cover!

The BMEIA Austrian Foreign Ministry provides specific country information.
