Master Interface Cultures Obwohl wir versuchen, es um jeden Preis zu vermeiden, umgibt uns Werbung. Aber es ist der Hauptfaktor dafür, wie die meisten digitalen Dienste überleben.
Dies ist ein Kunstwerk, das als eine Sammlung von manuell aufgenommenen Musikkassetten realisiert wird, die zum Zeitpunkt der Aufnahme nur Werbung enthalten, die auf Spotify® gestreamt wurde. Die Kassetten werden danach unterteilt, wo und wann die Anzeigen ausgestrahlt wurden (Spanien, Mai 2018).
Ziel ist es, den derzeitigen Stand der Industriepraktiken zu unterstreichen, da der durchschnittliche Verbraucher nicht weiß, wie diese Dienste Geld verdienen, um weiter zu arbeiten. Even though we try to avoid it at all costs advertisements surround us. Yet it is the main factor for how most digital services survive. Spotify® is still in debt since launch, and on April 3rd 2018 the colossal music streaming service launched on the New York Stock Exchange. In the meantime technically skilled users keep finding alternatives to block ads instead of paying the monthly fee, therefore avoiding advertisement that is essential to keep the service alive. Have we already started a new wave of piracy in the age of digital streaming? “Get Spotify® Premium only for € 9,99” is an artwork that is realized as a collection of music cassettes manually recorded, containing only advertisement streamed on Spotify® by the time of recording. The cassettes are divided based on where and when the ads aired (Spain, May 2018). Its aim is to underline the current state of industry practices, since the average consumer isn’t aware of the ways these services make money to keep operating.
