Daten verstehen und Visualisiseren

Understanding data is a prerequisite for communicating it visually. Today, data visualisations are gaining more and more popularity and also importance with respect to the communication of data-driven phenomena. This course, which will be held in English, focuses on theoretical, analytical and creative skills in order to collect, handle, analyse, interpret, communicate and visualise data-based evidence. This course discusses the history of data visualisation and contemporary projects and addresses topics such as the meaning of data as well as data, statistical and visual literacy, the application of appropriate chart types, data sources and data visualisation resources, visual storytelling and how to assess and draft data visualisation projects. The aim of the course is to enable students to acquire the necessary mind set and skills to understand quantitative information in order to communicate data visually. After completing the course, students will be able to make sense of quantitative information in order to draft applied and/or artistic data visualisation projects. Orte und Termine
