Through design and critical reflection, students develop emergent areas that arise from the combination of traditional techniques and fashion technologies with new technical disciplines. In practice-oriented workshops, the students develop their projects under the guidance of international experts and cooperation partners from the fields of design, research, art and business.
F&T students regularly present their work at international events such as Ars Electronica, ASVOFF and Take Festival.
The study aims at dealing critically with the social relevance of fashion as an instrument of differentiation, as an emancipatory means of reflection on design and production conditions as well as on the relation between the body and the medialized environment.
The artistic-scientific curriculum understands fashion as a cross-sectional matter and aims to introduce students to alternative concepts. Above all, this relates to the ability to work in a team, an examination of sustainability on many levels and a qualification that encompasses a broader concept of fashion. These aspects are implicit in all areas of study: dealing with a wide variety of analogue and digital methods, the understanding of materials and processes, and sustainable action ranging from design to materials and production conditions to distribution.
