In conjunction with the Rectorate and the University Council, the Senate completes the executive structure of the University of Art and Industrial Design.
The Senate is made up proportionately by representatives of the professors of the University, of the scientific and artistic non-professorial teaching staff, of the general personnel of the University and of the student body. A representative of the Working Group on Equal Treatment (without a vote) also participates in the monthly meetings of the Senate. Due to its composition, the Senate is particularly well-suited to initiate and support internal communication processes at the University.
Tasks of the Senate:
- approval of, and comments on, the development plan and organisational plan
- preparation of proposals for the election of the Rector (together with the University Council)
- adoption of curricula
- definition of academic degrees
- adoption of statutes of the University
- appointment of Appeals Commissions and reviewers in appeal procedures
- secondment of members to the Working Group on Equal Treatment
- secondment of members to the Arbitration Commission
