Interface Cultures “Translation III / Strafsachen” is a site-specific project that aims to put its exhibition space into a different context. It does so by describing its own surroundings in real time. For this purpose a camera is utilized that is continually rotating and shifting. The recording device is installed above the exhibition cell in a location that is inaccessible to the public. It moves around to follow the spectators through the exhibition space. The system interconnects two different spaces that are both situated in the same architectural structure, but are physically separated by a partition.
By capturing a place that is hidden from the public view this project aims to bring into awareness the layers of history that are present in the building but are not accessible to the spectators and to show the correlation between them and the physical presence of the public. Exhibition at: IC at ars electronica 2014, Linz, Austria „Translation III / Strafsachen“ ist ein ortsgebundenes Projekt, das den Ausstellungsraum in einen neuartigen Kontext versetzen will. Dies geschieht durch die Beschreibung des umgebenden Umfelds in Realzeit. Dafür wird eine ständig rotierende und die Position wechselnde Kamera eingesetzt. Das Aufnahmegerät wird über dem Ausstellungsbereich an einer den BesucherInnen unzugänglichen Stelle eingebaut und bewegt sich, indem es den BesucherInnen durch den Ausstellungsraum folgt. Das System verbindet zwei unterschiedliche Räume, die sich beide im selben Gebäude befinden, aber durch eine Zwischenwand getrennt sind. Durch die Aufnahme eines den BesucherInnen nicht sichtbaren Ortes will das Projekt Ebenen der Geschichte verdeutlichen, die zwar im Gebäude präsent, aber der Öffentlichkeit nicht zugänglich sind, und so die Korrelation zwischen ihnen und der körperlichen Präsenz des Publikums aufzeigen.
