Die Abteilung Künstlerische Wissenspraktiken lädt zum Gastvortrag des Wiener Künstlerkollektivs Mai Ling.

In recent practice, Mai Ling tackles the racialized and gendered logic of “Ornamentalism” proposed by Anne Anlin Cheng who analyzes how the European and American imagination has constructed Asian femininity as a hybrid human being and decorative object. In order to challenge such a hybridized embodiment, Mai Ling explores the concept of “stickiness” as an agency of resistance and pleasure, seeking for a transformable potential that holds together multiplicity, complexity and contaminations.

Funded in 2019, Mai Ling is an artist association/collective based in Vienna, offering a platform to share and exchange experiences, especially related to Asian FLINT*.
